About me
Alex Burgess is a Servant Executive Leader known for his passion for delivering exceptional business results through meticulous planning, empowered and prepared people, and disciplined execution. Alex offers a unique ability to develop and lead strategies and people while driving the tactical execution that successful business transformation requires.
Alex’s journey to executive leadership was a rather unique one – beginning his career as a field service technician, after which he successfully progressed through roles of increased responsibility and accountability. Therefore, he is extremely passionate about Diversity, Equity, and inclusion as he knows that not only has he been a beneficiary of DEI, but that there are very strong business benefits to leveraging the talents of all people. Given his passion, while at Xerox he was very involved with caucus groups both at the local and national level. He also served two terms as President of the NBEA and believed there was power in cooperation and collaboration with other groups – most importantly BWLC.
Alex currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for SPS North America, a Swiss company, where he is responsible for the strategic direction, operational delivery, and people leadership for this rapidly growing and fast-paced organization. One of his highest priorities is preparing the company for scale, focusing specifically on key strategic initiatives within the Operations, Human Capital Management, Finance, and revenue growth areas. He is also instrumental in developing and advocating for the company’s evolving DEI strategy.
Prior to joining SPS in 2021, he spent over twenty years at Xerox in varying leadership roles with increasing responsibility. Alex served as Senior Vice President of Xerox Corporation’s North America Service Delivery where he was responsible for leading the Technical, Professional, and Managed services operations. In his role, he led the organization through a significant business transformation which included integrating siloed departments, and migrating functions into a shared service structure.
In his prior role at Xerox, Alex led Global Customer Service Delivery where he was responsible for developing technical service delivery strategy worldwide as well as directly managing the company’s eleven global contact centers. His key contribution in this role was the redesign of the company’s contact center strategy, consolidation of centers and vendors, creation of low-cost captive sites, and enhancing customer self-help while continuing to work on longer-term integration of core systems.
Prior to rejoining Xerox in 2017, Alex served as Area President for Republic Services, the second largest environmental services company in the US. At Republic, he was responsible for all functions within his $500 million dollar operation including, sales, service, mergers and acquisitions, and municipal relations and leading over 1600 dedicated professionals.
A few of the other notable organizations Alex led during is Xerox career were US Document Outsourcing Operations, Service Value Chain, East Coast Managed Print Sales and Service, Southeast Technical Service Operations, US Technical Service Infrastructure and Technology. By the end of his Xerox career, he had held almost every key role in service delivery, balanced between line and staff roles.
Alex has a passion for providing financial literacy education and pursued his Series 6 securities as well as Life Insurance licenses so that he could not only educate, but also help families in underserved communities start their journeys towards financial freedom. He plans to focus his energy on this critical need in retirement. He resides in Indianapolis with his wife, Le-Angela, with whom he enjoys spending time, golfing and traveling the world together.
