Washington DC, our nation’s capital, is a beautiful, walkable city. From the hotel you can easily walk to several FREE museums including:
• The US Capitol Visitor’s Center – located on the east center of the Capitol building This is on the opposite side of the Capitol as you are leaving the hotel.
• Union Station - three blocks to the left from the hotel. This is a restored beautiful building. Take note of the vaulted ceiling and the statues standing guard.
• The National Gallery of Art. Constitution Ave. The west building was designed by IM Pei.
• The Museum of American Art and the National Portrait 8th and G Street. This is the original patent office and has a beautiful, peaceful atrium.
• American Indian Museum, 4th and Independence Beautiful architecture One of the best food courts in Washington.
• African American History and Culture Museum, 1400 Constitution Ave. You will need a scooter or Uber/Lyft for this one This is the newest museum in the Smithsonian.
• Air and Space, the American History Museum and the Natural History Museum are also on the mall but a bit more of walk, as these are in the 1300 block of Constitution on one side of the mall and in the same block on the Independence Ave side of the Mall.
• Monuments along the Mall: The Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Vietnam, Korean Was, Martin Luther King and World War II memorials are all withing walking distance of each other but are a long walk from the hotel.
